Types of Steel Buildings
You may be surprised atthe wide variety of purposes served by steel buildings. Almost any type of facility needed may be built from steel, from the very small to the very large, serving everything from rudimentary storage to fine home living.
The most common type of steel building is one built for storage purposes. Originally, this was practically the only variety of steel building available. This category includes small backyard storage such as gardening sheds and garages, industrial storage like warehouses, and specialized storage spaces like airplane hangars, boat houses and grain silos.
Another type of steel building is a functional one related to outdoor work and gardening or agriculture. Potting sheds, green houses, barns and stables are all commonly built from steel.
Commercial industry makes a lot of use of steel structures, since they go up quickly and costs less than conventional buildings. New businesses create office space and work space inside steel frameworks. Do you need to build a factory, set up an art studio, or rig up a room full of people working phones for you? Workrooms, assembly lines, cubicles and personalized offices may all be accommodated.
Moving from the factory floor to the sales floor, more and more retail spaces are created using metal buildings. Both small stand-alone stores and strip malls commonly get built from steel. More surprisingly still, steel is becominga popular material to build homes out of. This includes primary homes, vacation homes, ski lodges and cabins. It is stronger and more resistant to disasters of all sorts than wood and in some cases actually costs less. Steel walls can be covered with stone, brick, stucco or siding to give them the appearance of any other residential building. In other words, almost any kind of building can be a steel building.
